Colombia. Pintuco participated in a coatings project for one of the largest crude oil storage tanks in that nation with the application of a technology that allows pipes and tanks to have thermal insulation and prevent temperature transfer from inside to outside, and vice versa.
As reported in a statement by the Orbis Group, this is a tank operated by Ocensa, an oil transport company in Colombia, which is located in Coveñas and is considered one of the largest in the country, as it has the capacity to store more than 350,000 barrels and its size is almost 80 meters in diameter.
Gerardo Rodríguez, Maintenance Project Specialist of the Company commented that "in this type of tanks that store light crudes, there are probabilities that the oil will evaporate or consume, which means a loss of product and a physical security risk that can materialize in an explosion or fire; in addition, in the event of any increase in temperature, it is necessary to suspend the operation."
The coating that Pintuco applied to the tank fulfills the function of thermal insulator, which guarantees that there will be no heat transfer from the inside out or from the outside to the inside and therefore the risks are mitigated.
Hand in hand with its strategic allies, International Paint and Mascoat, Pintuco achieved a negotiation with Ocensa for a value of $ 1,400 million pesos.
According to Juan Fernando Baena, Sales Director for Pintuco Colombia: "It was a strong teamwork, where for more than 15 months an intense work of relationship and follow-up to the client was carried out, understanding their needs and specifications. For us it is a great achievement and a very representative negotiation that fills us with pride, because we have in our credentials an iconic project that we can show to other clients who have the same need, assuring them that Pintuco has the technology and support they need".
