International. Croda International has celebrated a milestone for its new ECO Project, an investment of US$170 million in renewable manufacturing that will reduce dependence on fossil fuels and the carbon footprint of its new range of 100% bio-based surfactants. The next development in the Croda ECO project is the final installation of the external infrastructure.
"Customers are looking for products that allow them to increase the renewable content of their product line and reduce their environmental impact. They are looking for biofuels, renewable feedstocks, because people are starting to become aware of the carbon footprint of products and the use of carbon. With our new range of surfactants we are offering customers a product that has an equivalent performance of a petrochemical product but with a significant sustainability benefit as they are 100% renewable, 100% bio-based and manufactured with renewable energies," said Rick Hanson, Managing Director of Performance Products.
This new range of 100% bio-based products will be used in many applications, including lubricants, seat foams and coatings in the automotive industry; air and floor care products in the cleaning industry, and drilling fluids in the oil industry; as well as cosmetics and hair care products in the personal care industry. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017.
