Costa Rica. An investment of between $60 million and $70 million (in local currency) is planned to be made in the Central American country by Grupo Sur, in order to build and equip a new paint production center in the town of El Coyol, Alajuela.
These new facilities will be built and developed on a plot of 150 thousand square meters, or 15 hectares, that this company has in this industrial area of Costa Rica. The company has planned to move all its operations in a period of between five and eight years, due to difficulties in mobilizing areas and equipment and the fact that they currently have eleven divisions that require a gradual transfer.
The president of the company, Enrico Giordano, explained to Nacion.com that the expansion of the company to a large number of areas led to a rate of investments of $ 15 million, on average, in the last five years.
In 2016, Grupo Sur opened 200 new positions and budgeted another 200 additional positions for 2017. It currently has 1,800 employees in Costa Rica, of the nearly 3,000 of all its operations in the United States, Mexico, Chile, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Central America.
