International. Evonik presents its new portfolio for the coatings and adhesives industry at the European Coatings Show (ECS) that takes place until April 6 in Germany. With approximately 2,000 products, specialty chemical manufacturer Essen offers a wealth of creative solutions for the coatings industry.
The acquisition of Air Products' Special Additives business highlights the Group's leading position in the coatings market and expands its product range.
"With the recently completed acquisition of Air Products' Specialty Additives business, we have further strengthened our performance capability for our customers. The acquisition perfectly complements our portfolio, both regionally – especially in the United States and Asia – and technologically," says Dr. Claus Rettig, Chairman of the Board of Management of Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH.
Evonik has increased its global sales in the coatings and additives markets to around €2.4 billion, of which €2 billion is in the field of coatings.
The company also now has two new plants:
- A new silica production plant in Sao Paulo (Brazil) that came into operation in the second half of 2016. The products produced there will be used in paints and coatings for the control of rheological properties, such as anti-sedimentation agents, rust protection.
- A new plant at the Shanghai (Greater China) headquarters for the production of polymer dispersants for use in water-based systems in coatings and printing inks will soon be operational. The plant is being built in response to growing demand, particularly in Asia, and is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2017.
