International. This Tuesday, March 21, international Color Day was celebrated , a holiday that has stood out since 2009 when the International Color Association considered it appropriate to create a day to celebrate color in all its manifestations. This date is associated with the entry of spring into the northern hemisphere and also with the equinox, both expressions of nature associated with light and color.
According to the Wikipedia portal, during these festivities some activities are organized such as the following:
- Artistic exhibitions, architectural projects, designs, decoration, fashion, etc.
- Meetings, congresses, debates, scientific events.
- Workshops on the use of color and light, both for adults and children.
- Competitions on chromatic and lighting designs.
- Use of national or regional identity colors.
For María del Mar Ruiz, PPG's Color Manager for Central America, color is considered one of the most influential phenomena in people's lives and is also one of the channels that contributes, in greater proportion, to our knowledge of the external world and increases our ability to express ourselves.
"It's hard to imagine the world without color," Ruiz reflects. "Without color we would be almost blind. Doctors check the patient's health by the color of their skin. The change of color in plants is a sign of the change of season. Blushing, for example, suggests a feeling of embarrassment. The lights of the traffic light change color and give us important information and when we go to receive a baby at home, or Christmas arrives or there is a first communion we always paint and renovate to fill our house with color, because color makes us happy. "
Meanings of color: Each color is perceived differently according to the culture. In ours, red manifests emotion, love and strength. Yellow signifies positive energy and high capacity for achievement. Green on the other hand expresses hope and, at the same time, relaxation. Blue always accompanies companies and is a sign of high quality and health and pink, if not used excessively, manifests sophistication and sincerity. Violet, on the other hand, is authority and power and coffee refers to robust and strong elements.
