NACE International and the Colombian Association of Corrosion Engineers (ACICOR) presented the programming of upcoming courses that they have prepared during the month of March.
"In today's competitive market it is very important to stay on top of new developments and it is crucial to advance your profession. Training and education through NACE can mean for you a new career, expand your area of expertise and offer greater recognition and credibility among your colleagues, both within your company and in the current job market," the associations say in an official statement.
- The marine coating technology course will be held from March 6 to 9: The marine coating technology course covers the fundamental topics that are specific to coatings in the marine industry. After a description of the most common types of ships, the course describes the types of corrosion that affect the areas of ships, the types of coatings and coatings that are effective in the marine environment, the shipbuilding process, surface preparation, understand various IMO Resolutions related to protective coatings (PSPCs for ballast tanks, tanks and cargo voids, antifouling, etc.), as well as inspection, inspection records and procedures.
- Forum of corrosion protection of the marine sector in Colombia, on March 10.
- CP1 - Tester in Cathodic Protection Level 1, March 6-10: This course includes topics in basic electricity, electrochemistry and corrosion concepts, cathodic protection theory (CP), CP systems and CP field measurement techniques. This course provides theoretical knowledge and practical foundations for inspection and testing of galvanic and printed current CP systems.
- CIP Level 2 – Coatings Inspector Program Level 2, March 6-11: This course focuses on advanced inspection techniques and specialized applications for steel substrates and other substrates other than steel. The course covers extensively what is related to surface preparation, types of coatings, inspection criteria and types of failures for different coatings.
- CP Level 2 - Cathodic Protection Technician, March 13-17: Topics in this course include intermediate-level discussions on corrosion theory and cathodic protection (CP) concepts, types of CP systems, AC and DC eddy current interference, and advanced field measurement techniques.
- CIP Level 1–Coatings Inspector Program Level 1, March 13-18: A six-day course that offers instruction on the technical and practical fundamentals of coating inspection work for structural steel projects. This course provides students with knowledge of coating materials and techniques for surface and application preparation that prepares the student to perform basic coating inspections using non-destructive techniques and inspection instrumentation.
