PPG has announced that its automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) coatings company received the Global Design Award from Groupe Renault for the first time during an awards ceremony in Paris.
While Renault's suppliers were honored in many categories, PPG was the only one to win this global honor, recognizing its development of the Rouge Flamme finish used exclusively by the automaker.
Groupe Renault added the Global Design Award this year to its annual recognition program for suppliers who have made exceptional contributions in areas such as design. Tim Knavish, PPG's senior vice president of global automotive coatings, accepted the award.
PPG began supplying Renault with the Rouge Flamme, an innovative colour that uses a clear red transparent layer, in 2011. The colour is exclusive to Renault and available in models such as Clio 4, Twingo, Kadjar, Captur and New Megane. "The success of Rouge Flamme demonstrates how attractive, high-quality finishes can help PPG customers increase their vehicle sales and strengthen their brand image. We are very proud to win this award and continue to grow our partnership with Renault," said Luis Aragon, Global Account Director of PPG, Groupe Renault and PSA Group.
