BASF has been recognized as one of the world's leading companies in sustainable water management and has been included for the first time in the "CDP Water A" list. The international non-profit organization CDP (formerly the "Carbon Disclosure Project") announced its latest results at the CDP World Water Forum, held in Morocco on November 15. The CDP works with institutional investors with assets of US$100 trillion.
Of the 607 qualified companies, only 24 received an "A" rating, including BASF. The CDP assessment for sustainable water management assesses how transparently companies report on their water management activities and how they reduce risks such as water scarcity. In addition, the CDP assesses the extent to which product developments can contribute to sustainable water management on behalf of the customers of qualified companies.
"Efficient water use and the development of sustainable solutions to local water problems are important elements of BASF's water management strategy. Here, BASF cooperates with other local water users, such as municipalities and companies operating in the same basin district," the company's statement reads.
