Eisenmann revealed that he has been hired by Volvo Cars to build a turnkey paint shop, including the building itself, at a new factory in Berkeley County, South Carolina. This will be the Swedish automaker's first manufacturing plant in the United States, with a proposed annual capacity of 100,000 units.
Volvo Cars also chose to implement Eisenmann's E-Shuttle and E-Cube products. The compact E-Shuttle 200, a unique combination of link tape and pendulum tape, ensures coating quality at high performance. The two-axis system will transport 30 bodies per hour through pre-treatment and electro-coating. In addition, E-Shuttle's low-rise requirements compared to rival systems translates into lower construction costs.
E-Cube paint spray removal systems will be installed in the first and top-coat paint booths. Volvo Cars said it is committed to conserving natural resources and minimising emissions. The E-Cube, which works without water, chemicals or additives, meets the Swedish company's criteria for manufacturing efficiency.
The scope of supply includes construction and related infrastructure, all transportation equipment, control systems, visualization tools, and a high-rise warehouse for buffering during production.
