Colombia.
Thanks to the encouragement of the members of the Rotary, Rotaract, Interact and ladies Rotary clubs of San Andrés, last Saturday, April 2, a second day of painting and integration into the Sea of Colors project was held.
This initiative includes the beautification of 100 facades in the San Luis sector. The idea is to foster a sense of belonging and unity among the community. With the support of a large group of volunteers, the inhabitants will be in charge of giving color to the facades to highlight the architectural beauty of the island, while promoting the conservation of the habitat and the importance of the archipelago for Colombia.
The support of various institutions such as the Departmental Government, the National Navy, the Air Force, the Police and the Red Cross, facilitates the articulation and dynamizes the integrality of the project.
This second phase of Sea of Colors integrates two strategic allies: Pintuco and the Orbis Foundation, the entity that executes Pintuco's social responsibility actions. These entities ratify their commitment to the contribution of 500 gallons of Koraza paint, special for outdoors and suitable for the climatic conditions of the island. They will also provide technical support and basic training on how to paint aimed at families and volunteers.
The social component of the project, through individual and community conversations with the families that will be part of the painting day and the articulation of volunteers who are linked to the activity, has been the task of the members of the largest non-profit organization in the world, who through their motto "Give of Yes, before Thinking of Themselves" have the conviction that this is a very valuable project from the social perspective, focused on the concept of community building, care and conservation of habitat as fundamental pieces to achieve a better quality of life in San Andrés.
In addition to painting facades, the day will include the elaboration of murals and a cleaning and decoration campaign in the surroundings.
Initiatives such as Sea Of Colors seek to boost processes of solidarity, commitment, co-responsibility, sense of belonging, appropriation for the territory and above all remain in the heart of the islanders.
