Specialty chemicals company Lanxess reported its fiscal year 2015 as successful – despite a challenging market environment. Pre-extraordinary EBITDA increased by 9.5% to €885 million, mainly due to the savings achieved by the company's reordering program, the strength of the dollar and the volume of growth in the US.
The operating result was therefore within the recent reference range of €860 million to €900 million. The company assured that all segments have contributed to the improvement of the results. In 2014, the operating result was 808 million euros.
The group's EBITDA improved from 10.1% to 11.2%. Net profit also increased substantially to €165 million from €47 million. Compared to the previous year, sales remained practically stable at €7.9 million (2014: €8.0 million). Here, lower selling prices, a result of lower commodity prices, were largely offset by favorable monetary effects.
"Fiscal Year 2015 was a success for Lanxess in every aspect. We implemented our readjustment faster than anticipated, while significantly improving our profit situation and financial situation. Thus, we have established a stable foundation for our growth course," said Matthias Zachert, Chairman of the Board of Management of Lanxess AG.
