Mexico. The paint company Comex, owned by the multinational PPG industries, made official the opening of its store number four thousand, positioning its brand as one of the largest presence in the national territory.
Comex also confirmed that its goal is to reach five thousand stores in the country, which would mean opening an average of 200 stores per year. With the most recent opening, the manufacturer confirmed that its stores are generating more than 20,000 jobs, which are divided into 16,000 in stores and four thousand direct.
"We will continue to strengthen this model to achieve a growth of more than twice the national GDP by the end of 2016 in the retail channel and thus continue to help families protect and beautify their homes," said PPG Comex CEO and vice president of Architectural Coatings Latin America at PPG, Marcos Achar. The company also hopes to continue strengthening its presence in other countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras.
Comex confirmed that the generation of annual sales increased in 2015 reaching a value of 13,900 million pesos (about US$774 million).
