"Tegovapro" replaces a part of the main binder, giving the formulation a new property with little effort or additional expense. This innovation from Evonik makes it possible to formulate high-quality exterior coatings ranging from semi-matte to high gloss.
Builders have traditionally resisted using glossy exterior paints. While these coatings keep water out, they are not breathable. When water vapor presses against the coating from the inside, it often produces cracks or bubbles. The problem is more than just aesthetics – it can also damage the exterior in the long run. With the brightest coating, cracks and bubbles will most likely form.
The product avoids these defects without any negative impact on other formulation properties. The weather resistance of the coating is also not affected. This means that manufacturers can formulate glossy exterior paints that are as breathable as matte paints. The technology is based on a multi-layer acrylate dispersion. Replacing only 20% of the primary binder is enough to produce a significant effect.
