Brazil. The specialty chemical company Lanxess exhibited its new shades of red during the last Abrafati 2015, which was recently held in São Paulo. In addition, it announced that its Inorganic Pigments business unit is preparing to inaugurate its new production facility in Ningbo, China, in November.
The new shades of red, dubbed "New Reds" will be marketed under the trusted Bayferrox brand and represent a further expansion of the iron oxide product portfolio.
The new plant for the production of red iron oxide pigments in Ningbo, built according to the latest environmental standards, is projected for an initial annual production capacity of 25,000 tons. On the same site, Lanxess is building a mixing and grinding plant for pigments, with an annual capacity of 70,000
"The urbanization trend is leading to the demand for environmentally friendly, sustainably produced iron oxide pigments. With our new facility in China, we will expand our global production network and product line. We can, therefore, continue to grow with our customers and be a trusted partner," said Jörg Hellwig, Head of the Inorganic Pigments business unit.
At the Ningbo Chemical Park, the company will use, for the first time, its optimized Penniman process, in which improved water treatment and waste gas purification ensure a high level of environmental compatibility. Compared to all iron oxides currently available, the innovative and sustainable Penniman process produces brighter and more yellowish red pigments.
