International. BASF received the Honda Corporate Citizenship Award, presented each year to suppliers who show exceptional commitment to social responsibility and leadership in the areas of health and safety, diversity, community engagement, ethics and compliance, human rights and the environment.
BASF Automotive Coatings' headquarters in Southfield, Michigan was the focus of honda's recognition and is the first supplier of formulated products to receive this award. BASF demonstrates its corporate citizenship through its Responsible Care program, employee participation in safety programs and activities, as well as broad community involvement with local schools and charitable programs, such as the annual sponsorship of the Children's Center in Detroit and the friends reading program with Southfield Public Schools.
"This award recognizes BASF's commitment to safety, sustainability and our community," said Karen Cummins, Director of BASF Southfield. "Honda has 682 suppliers. Only 64 received any kind of award and we were one of two to receive the Corporate Citizenship Award."
The award was presented to BASF in its Southfield location where more than 200 employees were recognised for their commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
