International. After a strong second quarter, specialty chemical company Lanxess raised its expectations for the full year 2015. The company now expects to achieve EBITDA results within a corridor of 840 million and 880 million euros.
Lanxees had previously assumed this Ebitda for the whole year would be between 820 million and 860 million euros. Sales improved by 4.3% in the second quarter of 2015 to €2.1 million, compared to €2.0 million in the previous year's quarter.
Higher volumes and positive currency effects offset the commodity induced by lower selling prices. EBITDA increased by 13% from €239 million to €270 million. This development was driven by increased volumes, savings generated by the restructuring, and positive currency effects due to the strength of the US dollar.
Net income improved by 58.2% to €87 million compared to €55 million a year earlier. Operational development and the proceeds from the sale of non-current assets contributed to this increase.
