China. Evonik has completed the construction and commissioning of a new precious metal powder catalyst (PMPC) pilot plant at its production facility in Shanghai.
The set-up is analogous to the existing commercial production plant in operation since July 2010 at the company's headquarters in Xinzhuang, Shanghai. The purpose of the pilot plant is to accelerate the scaling process for commercial catalysts and to quickly provide pilot scale PMPCs for customer projects.
After the opening of a new R&D center and technical service laboratory for catalysts in Shanghai in 2014, the pilot plant represents Evonik's next step in its commitment to the local catalyst market and strengthening its position in this market.
"The pilot plant represents an important milestone for our operations in China. We now have the full range to provide catalyst samples and commercial laboratory products, on a pilot scale, and local scale production on site," said Dr. Harald Seiler, general manager of China Catalyst Line Business.
