United States. They developed a coating that is formulated for use in the packaging of multilayer flexible foods, used in direct and indirect food contact applications.
The product, created by Michelman, is compatible with many EU and FDA food contact regulations.
The coating is directed towards the producers of substrates, packers and converters that coat the packaging material. Its high solids content combined with low viscosity leads to reduced transportation costs, less drying time and reduced energy costs.
It also offers high locking resistance and can be further formulated with sliding additives, such as "Michem Lube 160 RPH", to achieve a low coefficient of friction without losing joint strength.
The coating is water resistant and can be applied to paper, metal sheet or metallized surfaces, and various matte, white or cavitated films, in conjunction with a primer such as "Michem Flex P2300". It adheres well to various ink or printed films, and has a wide sealing temperature range. It also exhibits good hot adhesion for vertical form filling used in combination with the correct first or ink.
