In the corrosion industry we know a considerable number of professionals and institutions that work every day so that consultants, auditors and all members of the sector remain updated in terms of the different techniques and recent research to combat a phenomenon that affects in considerable quantity to various sectors and infrastructures.
That is why, for reasons of the next Latin American Corrosion Congress, Latincorr, which will be held in Medellín, Colombia, from October 28 to 31, it is worth analyzing the current state of our industry, which is why we have for this issue a special focused on articles that have to do with corrosion protection and new solutions and strategies to combat it.
If we take into account that studies in the United States indicate that corrosion costs related to losses and protection methods reach about 3% of GDP, and that in industrialized countries the average GDP is 2%, we understand that we are facing a very important industry and that deserves an even better teaching and training work.
At the moment, the sector is acting correctly, and in INPRA LATINA we are aware of the work of many members of the sector, who have shown their concern to improve the skills of professionals linked to this guild, which has attracted the eyes of important entities to Latin America to deepen studies and preparation.
We hope that the topics that we include in this edition related to the use of zinc-free anticorrosive pigments, the potential use of potassium sorbate as an inhibitor of steel corrosion, as well as the vision of the auditor contribute that grain of sand to our readers concerned about being updated.
