Latin America. Special Polymers is a key emulsion manufacturer in the region, achieving sales of around $40 million in 2021 and employing 230 people.
On September 1, Arkema finalized the acquisition of Special Polymers, a leading producer of water-based acrylic resins in Mexico. In this way, as recognized by the company of specialized chemicals and advanced materials based in Colombes (France), it strengthens the group's offer in solvent-free solutions and its position in a region such as Latin America considered fast growing.
Polimeros Especiales is a well-established Mexican company that produces high-performance water-based resins for a wide range of applications in markets such as architectural and decorative paints, textiles, pressure-sensitive adhesives and construction.
As part of Arkema's coating solutions segment, Special Polymers will strengthen the Group's position in high-growth markets, drive the development of more sustainable innovations alongside Arkema's other key solvent-free technologies and strengthen its presence in the Americas market.
