Colombia. PPG Industries announced the completion of the Colorful Communities project that helped revitalize nearly 100 homes in the La Cruz neighborhood of Itagüí, antioquia, as part of its global charity effort.
The program offers PPG employee volunteers and projects to bring color and vitality to the communities where the company operates around the world. Launched earlier this year, the program increases PPG's commitment to investment in communities by adding $10 million to support efforts over a 10-year period.
The project brought together about 30 PPG volunteer employees from the nearby Itagui coatings plant to use Comex-branded paint products to beautify the facades, windows and railings of 98 homes in the La Cruz neighborhood. During this event, PPG employees also provided training to community members on how to manage hazardous waste generated at home.
"PPG is committed to supporting the communities in which it is present," said Ricardo Bribiesca, general manager of PPG, Andean region. "We are proud to be able to offer our products and staff in order to help our neighbors in La Cruz revitalize their poverty-stricken area."
