United States. The Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings business line announced a multi-year contract with Cirrus Aircraft to use its Basecoat-Clearcoat SKYscapes polyurethane enamel system in its complete series of aircraft.
The company said this technology provides superior appearance and durability and features its latest proprietary AMS 3095 certified technology. This paint system cures at room temperature in half the time of other single-stage aerospace coating systems.
The coating system has characteristics of resins specially formulated to deliver: bright and richer colors; high brightness retention and advanced concealment qualities; and its technology can reduce OEM painting process time by up to 30%.
Cirrus Aircraft recently introduced its new 6000a aircraft. The achievement comes just 16 years after the company delivered its first production aircraft and hand in hand with strong performance in 2014 where the SR-series aircraft maintained its position as the fourth/fifth place among the best-selling aircraft in the world for 12 consecutive years.
