International. Bayer MaterialScience has developed a new polyacrylate binder that can be used to formulate finishes with a very low concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), for large vehicles, as well as for agricultural and construction machinery.
"We have been successful in reducing the concentration of co-solvent by more than 70% compared to the corresponding binder of the previous generation. Our initial finishing formulation contains less than 2% cosolvent, compared to the 5% used of the previous binder, which is equivalent to a VOC content of only 30 gallons in the sprayable formulation," commented Robert Reyer of Bayer MaterialScience.
The company will officially present this coating during the European Coatings Show that will be held from March 19 to 21 in Nuremberg, Germany.
