Germany. Basf reported that it now supplies coatings for the manufacturer Terex Cranes' mobile cranes at its plant in Zweibrücken.
The company is delivering high solids coatings – solvent-based with a high solids content and low emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) – that play a central role.
Mobile cranes are exposed to particularly harsh stresses through the effects of weather and their use in off-road conditions. "Our finishes also have high color stability to allow vehicles to maintain their typical colors in the coming years," said Karl-Heinz Edinger, representative of the Basf company.
Depending on the crane model, between 250 and 500 liters of paint were applied to the vehicles. For comparison, depending on the model, a total of 12 to 15 liters of paint are needed to coat a passenger vehicle.
