North America. PPG Industries recently announced an increase in the prices of extrusion coatings and coils in North America as a result of consecutive increases in raw materials.
The increase will range from 5% to 8% and will take effect from September 1, 2011 or as stipulated in the sales contracts.
According to Richard Zoulek, PPG's managing director for the U.S. "Commodity costs increased rapidly during the first two quarters of 2011 and will continue this trend for the remainder of the year. Although we have put in place aggressive cost control across all operations, these efforts have not been sufficiently compensated and that is why we have had to increase the price of some coatings."
