The Shepherd Color Company recently announced the introduction of a new high-performance pigment approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA): blue 10F545.It has outstanding light resistance and can be used in extreme applications – such as high UV exposure, in high temperature systems, and in contact with harsh chemical environments. 10F545 blue is insoluble in almost all solvents and resins and does not bleed or migrate.
According to the company, 10F545 blue has a good cover, opacity and coloring strength. It is a strong buffer of UV radiation, but therefore does not degrade, which means that both weather and light resistance are good. It can be used in a variety of applications that require color durability, such as engineering plastics, high durability coatings, cookware with coatings, swimming pools, and ceramics.
