The chemical manufacturer BASF announced that due to low demand it will begin in mid-April and for three months the shutdown of the smallest of its crackers in Ludwigshafen, Germany, which annually has a capacity of 220 thousand metric tons of ethylene (raw material for paints).Currently, five production lines are paralyzed at that site, and at the same time another 60 lines operate at a lower capacity, which means that BASF reduced its production capacity globally by more than 25%.
