Sherwin-Williams
Sherwin-Williams has announced the creation of Paint Shield, a microbicidal paint (which kills bacteria) approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and that seeks to become a tool to combat hospital infections or also known as nosocomial infections.
The company has arranged 590 colors for this type of paint, which would allow the use outside strictly hospital on surfaces of public use such as subway systems, schools and sports venues. Paint Shield could also be a good complement to the liquid repellent paint that has already begun to be tested in different places in Europe and the United States.
Surfaces painted with Paint Shield kill more than 99.9% of staphylococcus (Staphylococcus aureus), MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), E. coli (Escherichia coli), VRE (Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis) and Enterobacter aerogenes after up to two hours of exposure.
