Guatemala. With an investment of US$1.5 million, the paint company Celco de Guatemala S.A. expanded its production plant from 7,000 to 13,000 square meters, going from manufacturing 650,000 gallons to 2 million annually and generating about one hundred new jobs.The expansion is intended for the development of the Celco, Gamacolor and Cecolor brands with machinery imported from the USA. In addition to housing three new storage warehouses of 1,500, 700 and 600 square meters. The old space would be used for the production of wood coatings.
Within the business expansion plans, Celco offers the opportunity to create its own business through franchises at an affordable price, according to Javier Castillo, general manager of the company. He added that by this year the company expects to open five stores, three of them under the franchise modality and another ten stores are projected for 2011.
