International. AkzoNobel has announced plans to invest more than €30 million in a manufacturing plant in Thailand, in order to support the regional growth of its high-performance coatings business.
The project, which is being supported by the Investment Board of Thailand, involves the construction of a 120,000m2 headquarters at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Chonburi. Destined for an initial capacity of 45,000 tons per year, production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2016.
The new plant will support several high-performance coatings businesses, including metal coatings, Protective Coatings, specialty and marine coatings, as well as other products from the company's decorative paints business.
