International. The NanoMarkets report says the smart surfaces market will grow by around $13.5 billion in 2020 and scale to nearly $30 billion by 2022. The report shows where they will generate new business revenue within the construction, energy, transportation, medical, electronics, and national/military security sectors.
The largest market for smart surfaces will come in the transportation sector, which will generate about $4.1 billion in revenue from smart surfaces in 2020 for products sold for cars, trucks, airplanes and marine vessels.
The study says the construction industry will spend about $3.6 billion on smart surface products in 2020. About a third of this revenue would come from smart solar surfaces.
NanoMarkets believes that since smart surfaces often require a fine pattern to create their required functionality, the smart surface revolution can breathe new life within nanofabrication technologies.
