Brazil. The specialty chemicals firm, Altana, reported that it is strengthening its presence in Brazil with the acquisition of two national companies in the sector: Premiata and Overlake, both based in the city of Sao Paulo.
Premiata and Overlake employ 140 and 70 people, respectively. The former produces printing inks and coatings for the packaging industry at its Premiata Tintas and Premiata Especialidades Químicas facilities. The second specializes in overprint varnishes.
Martin Babilas, member of Altana's board of directors said that "through these acquisitions we are systematically expanding our business in the growing Brazilian market. Both companies focus on fully specialized chemicals and solutions tailored for customers. They are the perfect complement."
With these acquisitions, the company's Actega division will have its own manufacturing facilities in Brazil. The division is now combined to form a new company called Actega Brasil.
