Germany. The machine and plant builder consortium Dürr announced the construction of a complete painting plant for the successor model of the Volkswagen Crafter, the Volkswagen Poznań Sp.o.o. The company supplied the Eco+Paintshop painting plant located in Września, for what is considered one of the largest projects in its history.
The machine manufacturer, as a general contractor, in addition to supplying the painting equipment also assumes responsibility for the construction of the building. In terms of facility engineering, Dürr provides the immersion tanks for the PT/ED, a primer line, two base lines and two varnish lines, as well as the furnaces, paint booths, conveyor systems, exhaust air purifiers and associated workstations.
Additionally, Dürr and Volkswagen seek to contribute to sustainability starting with cataphoresis coating. For this reason, the EcoDC MACS cataphoresis immersion coating solution is used, as it contributes to energy savings and also operates fail-safe.
18 EcoRS16 type robots are in charge of the application of bass protection and joint sealing. In addition, 36 EcoRP E and EcoRP L type robots, all equipped with EcoBell3 high-speed rotary atomizers, are responsible for the interior and exterior painting in a fully automated way on the first line and the two bases and varnish lines.
Production of the successor model to the Volkswagen Crafter will begin in Poland in autumn 2016.
