Brazil. On July 25, the MercoSur Trade Commission approved a reduction in the import quota of titanium dioxide (TiO2) from 12% to 2%. This petition was submitted by the Brazilian Government on the basis of a request made by Abrafati.
The Exemption of this percentage will last for 12 months, covering a quota of 120,000 tons of the product. The measure will take effect during the next few days, after the publication of the resolution issued by Camex (Chamber of Foreign Commerce) in the Official Journal of the Union.
"It is a very positive decision for the sector, which has reflections on competitiveness and contribution to many of the government's economic and social development programs," said Dilson Ferreira, Executive Chairman of Abrafati.
