Germany. Evonik Industries is building a new polymer dispersant production plant on Goldschmidtstrasse in Essen. The specialty chemicals company is thus investing an amount in the double-digit range in millions of euros and is tripling its global capacity for polymer dispersants.
The start-up is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2015. Polymeric dispersants are mainly used in water-based systems in paints and printing inks and in high solid systems with a low solvent ratio.
Dr. Ulrich Küsthardt, Head of Coatings and Additives at the Evonik Business Unit commented: "The polymer dispersants product group is developing in a very attractive way. With our expanded capacity, we want to serve this growing market for our customers, we are a competent innovation partner, offering excellent solutions for functional coatings and paints."
