Brazil. The Minister of Finance of Brazil, Guido Mantega, announced on May 27 that the repeal of the payment sheet will be permanent for 56 sectors currently contemplated, among which is the paint industry. This measure represents an important benefit for this sector.
The Brazilian Association of Paint Manufacturers (Abrafati) participated in the discussions on the subject and presented a legal argument to perpetuate this benefit, which has been in force since the beginning of 2013 and would end on December 31.
"It is an important decision for the paint industry and contributes to its competitiveness. We estimate that with this repeal the annual economy will represent about US$20 million for the sector. In addition, it brings as an advantage the transformation of expenses, which would go from being fixed expenses to variable expenses, which grow or decrease depending on what is billed, "said Dilson Ferreira, executive president of Abrafati.
The measure will also be made official by the government, which believes it is not difficult to pass in the National Congress. According to the minister, in the coming years the repeal may be extended to other sectors.
