China. Evonik Industries revealed that it opened an integrated isoforone and isoforondiamine facility in Shanghai. The company has invested more than €100 million in the facility, which will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons. Construction at Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park took less than two years.
"The new plant continues our history of successful growth in isophorone chemistry. We are now represented in the three main economic zones, Europe, NAFTA and Asia, with fully integrated production facilities to take advantage of new and attractive growth opportunities," said Patrik Wohlhauser, member of the executive board of Evonik Industries.
In addition to the new production complex, Evonik built an application technical assistance center with state-of-the-art laboratories in Xinzhuang in Shanghai. Tailor-made isophorone solutions will strengthen the competitiveness of Asian customers.
