Brazil. Around 150 guests, including Huntsman's customers and associates, attended the opening of the new Technology Center, which took place last December.
The event was attended by the president of the Huntsman Advanced Materials Unit, James Huntsman, and the mayor of Taboao da Serra, Fernando Fernandes, who highlighted the importance of Huntsman's presence to the city's economy, highlighting the creation of jobs.
After a brief introduction, both visited the company's facilities, with explanations of the four units that will benefit, and a lunch was held.
Commenting on the new Technology Center, James Huntsman said, "We are excited to expand our technical capacity in Brazil and support our business in South America and offering customized products for a wide variety of markets is key to growth in the region; capacity is a sign of our commitment."
The installation of the equipment room in the Polyurethanes unit is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014, when the unit completes 15 years of operations in Brazil, and will be integrated into the Technology Center. The equipment will be used to develop new applications with polyurethanes, simulate customer processes and perform demonstrations of Huntsman's specialties.
