International. The liquid and powder coatings company, Axalta Coating Systems, produced a report highlighting the most popular colors in the history of the automotive sector.
The report called "Six Decades of Automotive Color" highlights a tradition that began in 1953 in North America and has established itself in other regions over time. In addition, this version includes for the first time the five most popular colors per model year.
According to the report, in 2013, the five most popular colors by region were as follows: in North America and Asia Pacific, the favorites are white, black, silver, gray and red; in Europe the taste for white, silver/grey, black, blue and red predominates; and finally, for South America, the trend is white, silver, black, gray and red.
"As manufacturing and coating processes have evolved, the industry's commitment to sustainability has increased and customers' expectation of better performance has been developing, so Axalta's commitment is to develop the technology needed to meet those two demands," said David Fisher.
