International. Huntsman Corporation has confirmed the agreement in which it will acquire Rockwood's performance additives and titanium dioxide (TiO2) business. The business was about $1.1 billion and includes liabilities of $225 million.
With this acquisition, Hunstman expects to increase the value of its pigment business and thus offer a greater offering in color pigments and TiO2 pigment specialties, as well as functional additives.
According to Huntsman President Peter R. Huntsman, with this agreement, the company will become "the second largest global producer of inorganic color pigments and TiO2."
Rockwood's business, acquired by Huntsman, includes the manufacture and processing of TiO2 sulfate, iron oxide materials and other organic pigments for the automotive sector, as well as products for wood treatment and synthetic specialty.
