Mexico. PPG Industries expects to increase its share of the automotive paints market with new plans to supply three new vehicle manufacturing plants.
In an interview with the Mexican newspaper El Financiero, the director of the company, Miguel Martínez, said that the operation at the San Juan del Río plant located in Queretaro and where 500 people work, will increase due to the upcoming contracts with the assemblers.
Currently, PPG Industries produces 10 million liters of paint annually for this segment and its market share is 60%. 90% of its production goes to the original parts industry and 10% for spare parts and export to other markets such as Asia and Africa.
On the other hand, the executive stressed that currently the white color is the one with the highest request by customers of new vehicles, covering 20% of the total production of the company, followed by silver and black (18% each).
