Brazil. The multinational chemical company Basf announced that it will expand the production capacity of water-based coatings at its Demarchi paint plant, located in Sao Paulo.
The investment of 2 million euros will allow the company to increase its capacity in basecoats as well as in the first water base. Expansion work is expected to be completed by early 2014.
"By increasing the production capacity of these products, we met the objective of satisfying the demand of our customers that has been driven by the new automotive manufacturing plants in Brazil and also by the trend of water-based technology instead of solvent," said Antonio Carlos Lacerda, senior vice president of the functional solutions and infrastructure segment of Basf South America.
