International. Basf revealed that it is investing around 90 million euros for the construction of its new plant that will be located in the Chemical Industrial Park of Shanghai, China.
The new plant will produce high-performance resins and electrocoats, to support the growing demand for automotive coatings in Asia Pacific. The start of the production line is planned for the second half of 2015.
"Continued investment in our infrastructure and capacity demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers' growing business in the automotive market in Asia-Pacific, especially in China," said Peter Fischer, Senior Vice President, Coatings Solutions Asia Pacific. This new plant is adjacent to another new automotive coatings plant that began construction in early 2013. The proximity of these two plants will allow for greater synergy and efficiency."
