International. Pigment manufacturer Merck developed new effect pigments with bright color saturation, innovative layer technology and the use of aluminum flakes as substrate.
The pigments are suitable for automotive coatings and plastics that are known as Meoxal: "We are setting a later milestone in pigment technology. For the first time we are combining the properties of an aluminium substrate with those pearl pigments, producing effect pigments with unique effects and very good processing properties," commented Inese Lowenstein, Head of the Pigments Business Unit.
Some of the characteristics of this pigment are brilliance with outstanding color saturation, spark effects of individual particles, particle size distribution optimized for coating uses, outstanding operation, in particular with water-based coating systems; easy to use - no additional passivation is necessary in coating systems through water, good shelf life.
