Brazil. AkzoNobel reported that it provided the high-performance coating systems for half of the stadiums used in the Confederations Cup of soccer that is played in the South American nation.
The three stadiums that feature the company's coatings are the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, the National Stadium in Brasilia (which hosted the opening ceremony) and the Pernambuco Arena in Recife.
Used to protect the steel structures (seats and ceilings) and walls, AkzoNobel supplied protection and dust products for the three sites through its International Paint, Interpon and Coral brands.
"Brazil is one of our most important markets and we are proud to have combined our global scale and expertise to provide comprehensive solutions in some key stadiums of the Confederations Cup," said Jaap de Jong, Director for Latin America at AkzoNobel.
