Mexico. In the framework of the Anafapyt Latin American Coatings Show that takes place until this Wednesday, June 12 in the Mexican capital, the president of the National Association of Manufacturers of Paints and Inks, Javier Maldonado, said that Mexico is the second largest nation in the Latin American industry after Brazil.
At a press conference, the representative of the sector explained that the North American country produced in 2012 a total of 720 million liters of all types of coatings, exceeding the 620 million liters registered in 2011.
This allows us to determine that the value of the Mexican market of this industry is around US $ 2,500 million, and represents a per capita consumption of 5.6 liters (Brazil leads the market with 8 liters per capita).
Maldonado highlights the evolution of the Mexican consumer, who increasingly recognizes painting as an investment and not as an expense.
Likewise, the president of Anafapyt does not feel that there is an invasion of lower-cost Chinese products to Mexico, due to the quality standards of the local industry, but he does mention the importance of improving regulations for the illegal import of underbilled products.
