The report reveals that the most widely used solvents in the world are alcohols such as ethanol, isopropanol and methanol, with an average of 6.4 million metrics implemented in 2011. The demand for ethanol and ethers is projected to grow annually by more than 3% between 2011 and 2019.
The report also analyzes that the most important buyers are the producers of coatings. The demand for solvents in this industry is expected to increase 2.9% per year until 2019. In second place are the producers of printing inks, which accounted for more than 8% of global solvent demand in 2011.
With 39% of global consumption, Asia is the most important continent in the world in terms of solvents, followed by North America and Western Europe.
