According to the study, ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam curing technologies today offer a large number of advantages, for example, that the ink, varnish or coating is cured immediately allowing the device to continue to be manipulated without waiting for drying. In addition, the high-gloss finish achieved with these techniques saves additional processes such as laminating.
According to the data provided by Pira, inkjet printing using UV inks is a fast-growing segment especially in the field of signage and its use for labels and packaging is increasingly established. In fact, the study predicts that by 2016 this niche will be the one with the greatest development, increasing up to 250% compared to the expected production volume for 2011.
