Suvinil will invest in logistics improvement

Suvinil Sao Bernardo BrasilBrazil. In order to obtain a 10% growth in the amount of paint marketed, the firm Suvinil announced the investment of 150 million reais (US$81 million) in its San Bernardo plant, to improve the access roads of the trucks that take the raw materials to the plant and then distribute the finished paints among customers.

"Today we have 33% of the volume of paint sales in Brazil and 40% of the total turnover of the sector and we expect to grow 10% in volume and 15% in value this year," said Luporini Neto, vice president of architectural and automotive paints of Basf (company that owns Suvinil) in South America.

The purchase decision is part of a corporate strategy that seeks to improve the presence in the architectural market that is the one that presents the greatest growth today, thanks to the improvement in the income of the population that stimulates the search for higher quality products to paint the houses.

And, according to Neto, eight years ago for every real that was invested in paintings, a real was spent on hiring labor. Today the cost of a professional is four times higher and that is why companies are investing in products with greater coating capacity and more durable finishes.

The new investments will reduce the loading and unloading times of the 300 trucks that transit through the plant daily and thus strengthen the exports that today reach 13 countries in the world, including Africa.
