. The American company DuPont reported that its line of coatings reduced by up to 30% the processes in the automotive industry for the painting of vehicles, by eliminating a layer of paint in its entirety.
The purpose of the company is to generate a reduced, more ecological and saving process in the consumption of paints, which until now has resulted in more than 3,000 vehicles a day being painted in Mexico in a process that has been available there for five years.
For automotive repainting, the firm has a single-component polyurethane water-based color base product for repairs of all types of cars.
On the other hand, the firm announced that it will invest US$500 million in the expansion of its industrial plant that produces titanium dioxide, located in Altamira, Mexico, with which it intends to place itself in the first place in world production, since it will generate 350,000 metric tons of a raw material used for coatings, laminates, dyes, among others. 1,500 jobs will be created during enlargement and 500 new permanent jobs at the end of this process which is expected to be ready by 2014.
"This expansion and enhancement of our facilities allows us to quickly adapt to changes in the market and consistently meet the ever-changing demands of our customers," said BC Chong, president of titanium technologies at DuPont.
